I will be studying at the Philipps-Universität Marburg until June 6. I will be studying German language and two seminars, most likely in Political Science. I plan to start a travel log once i get there. Although, I am not certain how often I will be able to update the log since I dont own a laptop and dont know much about how often I will be able to use the internet. However, i also remain as much of a lzy person, as i used to be. After missing out on RATM last year, this year i made it to VoodooFest 2008, The Tenth Ritual, to watch Mars Volta and Nine Inch Nails. Although, Nine Inch Nails (NIN) was the act i was eagerly waiting for, Mars Volta nonetheless were a completely superb act in themselves. Their entire 1 and a half hour set seemed like a single song, which was cool considering they play one of the coolest music. The main highlight was NIN, no doubt, the two hour set with the magnifique stage show was just superb and left me speechless, hard of hearing, aching body, loss of voice, and nearly a broken glasses. All in all it was just what i thought it would be...Cool. Didnt take a camera, because i knew i would be enjoying way too much to take photographs. But did manage to take some shots from my cell while catching breaths at times. My cells' camera is probably the worst,,so the pics are not so good even though i was quite near.
<a For me the comfort of my own room was the best view ever. But finally, my view has started to skew a bit. My first experience in a massive stadium that too a game i had no clue about couldnt have been much better.
The Superdome in New Orleans is much bigger than it appears to be. A refuge during the Katrina hurricane, this massive thing is sure enough to please any football (american football) fanatic or just about anyone else. The lighting, environment, sounds and even the game was totally awesome. I would have so got everything for my money if i had paid for the tickets (Thanks Ritesh bro). The game was kinda slow and it was pre-season but still i had loads of fun. The saints did win 7 to nothing and the whole show was worthwile.......Hope they have a better run next week in Indianapolis .
Everyone was wearing the Saints shirts that had "Bush" written in back, i though all the people loved dear Ol Bush or hated his guts. But it turned out there was this guy called Reggie Bush who was supposed to be this big hotshot, did not get to see him play though (pre-season).......

Student Woes

A Nepali student was killed in a shootout recently, http://www.nepalnews.com/archive/2007/aug/aug28/news08.php.
Have heard about students getting shot at or getting in a serious car accident couple of times.

La Nouvelle-Orléans

Its been sometime since i've written anything and it seems it will be sometime that i start to be regular. Also, it was a first time for me almost sitting throughout the whole of the gig and that too almost in the end of the hall.

The main cause today was an initiation by Youth Action Nepal, Action Aid, Nepa-laya, and Child Development Youth Network in raising awareness about the problems of Hunger. It was entitled as a Hunger Free concert and event. A rally was started from Peace Mandala to BICC where all the participants got drenched completely, a sign of good starting but still a drag. Anyways, after reaching there , some photo session, chanting, interview and stuff and then started the main highlight.

Having heard Nepathya on some prior albums, i generally do like their music. A blend of folk, blues, rock and some other pot pourri comes out as a truly appreciable music. But its a much better treat seeing them live. Their rendition of old Nepathya songs and some classic nepali (patriotic) songs in a type of pink floydesque nature was truly awesome. The crowd pumped up the guys on stage and in turn they played their hearts out and just set the stage on fire. I particularly liked the duet between the Madal and the drums which it seems nowadays has been a Nepathya regular in concerts.

Summarizing it all, it was truly a wonderful musical and visual delight. Their performance shows the nepali artist have the same flair as international artists, at least some do. \m/

I'm back and so is Hostel

This time around there's nothing much to write about the trip to Dhangadi, family visits and stuff nothing interesting or anything just very Hot!!! As usual Dhangadi was really scorching , thank god there were some showers that tried to dampen the day but that didnt help much either.Ah ! Kathmandu just feels so much cooler, just 34 degrees or so....thats nice. So everythings almost where i had left it , yesterday there was this earthquake scare started of by some future predicting baba, says a major earthquake's gonna strike somewhere between now and july 10, its foreseen by the baba that pakistan will sink, pokhara will disappear and 300 thousand people will die in kathmandu alone. That rumor did get inside the head of lots of kathamnduites , and yesterday there was tense panic in the air, lets see what happens.

In a more gory and bloody part saw last years sequel to Hostel, Hostel:2 today and boy was that some movie. Eli Roth it seems is trying to step up his game with every flick he makes. Comparing with Hostel 2, Cabin Fever(the first of his film) looks like a teen drama. Seriously, part 2 has everything a slasher movie freak requires and so much more. I would love to say what happens and who dies in what horrid manner but that would spoil all the fun . There are some scenes that remind me of Elizabeth Bathory, there is cannibalism, the usual decapitations and slashings and some of the worst torture imaginable that could be inflicted to a man. All in all this movie definitely is more gruesome then the first and oh yes, its storyline is somewhat broadened and kind of begging for a third installment. 4 out of 5.

On a leave

Off to Dhangadhi ( a days journey by bus, far west corner of Nepal) for some time, and because of other reasons seems will not be able to post much. :(

Trip to Gosainkunda

Gosainkunda for me was more of an adventure than a pilgrimage. And, it turned out to be really worthwhile. I met some people who have been there more than 10 times for religious reasons (I honestly and amazingly respect that feat) but for me it was exploring your own country and just enjoying the nature that I remember the most. Talking about how I reached there.

After staying in Dhunche for two days, we set off on Tuesday morning at exactly 6 in the morning. With a short descent to Ghattekulathan, it was seriously uphill all along the way with never ending hills that kept on showing up with every turn and ascent The trail was simply magnificent with its panoramic view and jaw dropping scenery and that sometimes helped to keep the mind off of the gradual pain creeping up the leg with every step. Gosainkunda is more than 2000 meters higher than Dhunche and the walking distance is much more than that. Slowly, we made our way past the various so called villages, Deuarali (2625M), Dhimsa (3007M), Chandanbari (3512M) and Laurivinayak (3900M) before finally reaching Gosainkunda (4300M). After climbing, limping, struggling and nearly to the point of crawling for 12 hours Gosainkunda stood in front of us. Luckily, I didn’t get altitude sickness but can’t say that for everyone who was there. After staying a night there we headed back to Dhunche the next morning, after admiring the scenic beauty, bathing and feeling VERY VERY cold. On my way down met up with a very interesting Frenchman Baptiste (pronounced Ba-Tist) who among other things helped me play a Gambian instrument called the Mugambo. And with him and another Nepali guy, Sambala, reached Dhunche in just 6 hours and didn’t (couldn’t) leave the bed the whole day.

It’s hard putting down in words about the trip. What I could write is about how I ended up crushing my knee with the speedy descent or how I nearly fell off of a cliff and that sort of things. It will be the highest that ive travelled so far, a sweet 4500 meter above sea level. Will update on that after i reach Kathmandu most probably next week. Here, are the details about how you can be part of the show and make your voice and voices of youth heard throughout the country। (Participation is limited to people living in Nepal only). I dont know how well this program will do. There is still some hesitant attitude towards politics mainly in Youth. If this program can help in making Youth (people in general) more politically aware that will be the most important step. After that, if it can generate curiosity regarding politics among people and polish its image then more kudos for that. lets see, what happens. Will update on it more (only if it is interesting and worth watching, नत्र भने म पनी का हेर्छु र !! The show is a documentary by Michael Holmes telling his account and stories when he was assigned to cover the Iraq War for a month from January 9. On arriving there in 10 minutes he would do a special report of an ongoing battle on the streets. That really, tells what the whole thing is about.
"The situation in Iraq is starting to get better", that's what is being said nowadays. But the condition is still far from positive. The statistics till now are very much disturbing. With an average of 2000 people being killed every month, the picture is yet from being rosy. And among all the fighting that is already taking place in the country, instances of Sectarian violence does not help at all. The war was not supposed to last this long or inflict damages of this magnitude both to the country and the people fighting for it. It seems everyone is involved in this war now, someway or the other.
"On Assignment: Month of Mayhem", showed the war from the perspective of the reporters working in really morbid condition just to give us some idea what is really happening there. And what we see is far from pleasing. I could tell of all the horrific details that has now become a daily part of the Iraqis. Tortured and mutilated bodies thrown in the streets have become normal and grieving widows and family members identifying the sometimes unrecognizable cadavers is the truth every Iraqi hopes they dont have to be a part of. It may sound macabre of all the details but thats the undeniable truth. The only thing that we could actually do is understand the seriousness of the situation and raise our voices against the atrocities. With body counts rising every day, the people there are getting something they never bargained for.
While i was mentioning the gruesome situation in Iraq, a friend of mine could not take it anymore and remarked that, "sometimes indifference is happiness". I just wonder, how much of that statement holds true?? Is ignorance really bliss ?

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://sugamsingh.blogspot.com/2007/05/iraq-war-mission-accomplished-just-not_15.html' title='Iraq War: (Mission Accomplished?) Music, I believe, speaks to a large number of people without worrying about nationality, religion or even languages. I think many bands and artists I like the most speak in languages I have almost no clue of (no, not English!). But still, the music and the experience a whole serves a greater purpose. You just know a great song even though it’s in Slovenian, French or any other language for that. Sometimes, people give me the crazy eye when I confess about my love for songs which I have no understanding of (language wise) or when I forcefully make them listen to them one way or the other. But regardless of the language or genre I love music as a whole and just cant seem to get enough of it.

My play list seems to change more than often and when it does, I don’t mind listening to that over and over and over again until I find something else and the cycle continues. Currently speaking; there is some folk german metal, with Subway to Sally, their vocals might catch you off guard nonetheless still a decent listen. Siddharta a Slovenian band with its blend of hard rock and ballad-type songs just gets off on the right foot every time. Also, the OST for Kill Bill will just refresh you with tracks by Nancy Sinatra, Bernard Herrman, Tomoyasu Hotei and Santa Esmeralda, to name a few, catching your attention right away. A visually impaired pair of Amadou & Mariam, with their bluesy yet soothing French sound is also something worth a listen.

Like, science subject (which I don’t fancy as much) music requires some basic experimenting. Let yourself free from the definite genre grasp, be open and try out new sounds even though you might not have heard or even though would hear. Feel free to browse around and you might just stumble upon something that will captivate you and delight you beyond words.

Hangover Sucks...

Yes, its true…..hangover sucks…and im not just talking about the getting-stone-cold-drunk-one-night-and-the-next-day-someone’s pounding-your-head kind of hangover, but hangover in a more general case. If you are kind of not getting where im heading, well the story so far is. Last three days was kind of a major blast or something like that, maybe due to the fact that it was my birthday. Yes, I am implying that I celebrated three days of birthday. How? You ask. Well, one of the perks of being a Nepali is that you get to celebrate everything more than the rest of the world. We have more than 1 New Year which is celebrated at full blast. And we don’t miss out on celebrating as much as we can. Although im not a big fan of celebrating birthday and such; I find it very trivial and overrated. But still due to unforeseen circumstances I celebrated my birthday according to the Gregorian Calendar (May 9), Bikram Sambat(Nepali Calendar)(May 10) and some religious calendar which I have no idea of (May 11). I know that might sound a bit stupid, over the top but what can I say. As said by some hip hop guy, “Don’t hate the playa, hate the game.”
So, the party started at different places with different people at a different time but it all came down to yesterday and today morning being the time everything finally ended (whew!). If I start to write about every detail it will get a bit long so ill try to make it short and to the point. Full details maybe next time. I have to thank the guys and gals of YTC for throwing the bit of surprise (I mean it, I was surprised, really bhaneko…..not shocked or very surprised but still taken aback). The company was nice even though most of the people got drenched in the rain (eventually, including me). Also I must mention that the Psycho was par excellenceJ. All in all it was a great time. Dhanyabad, Thank You and Vielen Herzlichen Dank!!!

While writing all the good stuff I forgot about what I was actually writing about. I had a very bad day today. Nearly got in a very big bike accident was nearly caught by the cops (didn’t know there was a one way, my bad). And not everybody remembered my birthday ( No, im not talking about her YTC folks), but still its cool, not a big deal. Just feeling a bit tired (right word?) after everything. I guess you cant have good times all the time. You enjoy some and then you’ll not enjoy some. But I enjoyed everything when I had the chance so will face this thing head on. I guess ill take a nap now. Ok, dann ein letztes mal fuer mich, Alles Gute zum Geburstag!!! The program titled Tatastha tarka:Naya Nepal...Naya Awaz will cater mostly to the youth and its objective will be Engaging Youth in peace Process Issues Through TV Talk process in Nepal.
Being part of the Youth community myself, i can clearly say that Politics does not really interests me as much as other things mostly because its very hard to understand. Forget about Youth even the so called "grown up people" have a hard time gripping Nepali politics. From what was discussed at today's agenda, the program not only aims to give youth(and everyone else) knowledge on various political issues but its will also provide a platform for youth having interest in politics and overall development of the country to speak their mind and talk on behalf of a whole demographic of people.
For its current 25 episode run, it will emphasize more on the Constituent Assembly(CA), since its the major talk of the town right now and many people(including me) still have very little or no clue as to what it really is.
There are some political shows presently airing on various Nepali channels but i guess this is the first attempt at incorporating youth at this level. It sounds really nice and if it delivers as to what it promises then it will of course do some good. Also, talking about the show itself it will be half an hour long, every Sunday at 9 pm on Kantipur Television. The show will comprise of two hosts, two political/constitutional/election experts, two celebrities and two youths who will be chosen through a prior essay competition every week. The hosts are Mr. Jay Nishaant and Ms. Malvika Subba.
So, look out for this program in coming weeks. For those wanting to find out about the political situation here in terms of youth, i think this program will serve its purpose. I think its time youth should be more politically aware if not politically active. Although, the latter would be best. Only after we comprehend the situation can we strive to make a change for the better.

Top 100 education related blogs!!

Published on Wednesday 20th of December, 2006
This link looks useful for those students like me........So check some of these out and you may find something useful.......im just learning how to handle the first year of college.........100 top education related blogs

World Press Freedom Day

So today is World Press Freedom Day...like all the ".isms" around, its hard remembering all the Days. There's most probably 365 similar Days or even more. But since blogging has become an influential press tool and since i blog and respect press freedom and i just found out about it watching the news and since i have nothing else to write (not that i dont consider this important, its important all right!!!) i dedicate this post to all the people in the world working towards creating a knowledge based society full of serious news and some light stuff along the way with other stuffs for everybody.
Unfortunately, as i found out, Nepal ranks about 7th in the list of countries with least degree of press freedom(might be some old data). The ranking created by Reporters Without Borders is based on surveys about direct attacks on journalists and the media as well as other indirect sources of pressure against the free press. I guess, the last time when this issue was raised to its height was during the royal takeover and the Janaandolan periods where i believe blogging was taken up widely for letting the people know the real truth. Not knowing the full extent of this issue i cannot comment much about it. But, from what i do know, Nepali journalism has still a long way to go before it reaches its maximum potential and that too without any hindrances that would prevent truthful and hard edged journalism.
With the various conflicts in the Middle East region, Journalist have become most prone to attacks and dangers in the recent years. Various kidnappings and even executions take place almost everyday. Right now the fate of BBC journalist Allan Johnston is still unknown for such a long time. The killing of Daniel Pearl some years back was a huge blow to Journalism and clearly showed the risks scribes are facing. The press has a huge value in our everyday lives. Although today is just another Days in our calendar, we should all work together for better press liberties and rights. Even though you may not be a journalist or even close to working in the line, it would be very nice of you to just acknowledge their works and responsibilities and maybe even help in any way possible.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights indicates: "Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive, and impart information and ideas through any media regardless of frontiers"
More about Press Freedom or Journalism

Can a boy and a girl just be friends ?

This is one question which in course of time many people have to face or already have faced... I myself having faced it already and after knowing what the truth is, I would like to shed some light upon it in the exact words of Harry(Billy Crystal):

They can't be friends...unless both of them are involved with other people. Then they can. This is an amendment to the earlier rule. If the two people are in relationships, the pressure of possible involvement is lifted. That doesn't work either. Because what happens then is the person you're involved with can't understand why you need to be friends with the person you're just friends with, like it means something is missing from the relationship and wanted to go outside to get it. Then when you say, 'No, no, no, no, it's not true, nothing is missing from the relationship,' the person you're involved with then accuses you of being secretly attracted to the person you're just friends with, which you probably are...I mean, come on, who the hell are we kidding, let's face it...which brings us back to the earlier rule before the amendment, which is men and women can't be friends.

Kapish!

What do you think of it ?

Its Over.....At last

One sport i follow as much a i can is cricket, so with the end of its world cup have to write something about it.......
This year's cricket world cup was focused on many thing except the cricket itself. So, starting with the basics.....Australia won, AGAIN.I was hoping this time South Africa would take the accolades, but they could only do just so much. Also, was hoping on seeing Australia crumble up against some team at the world cup (nothing against the aussies though) but it seems that too is now 4 years away.
So, the 49 days tournament (are you kidding me?) has finally ended. The death of Bob Woolmer, will however, forever shroud this cup with utter sadness. And, to think about it his death may have come due to some bookies' loss shows how much filth has infiltrated this ones gentlemen game. Critics have slammed the ICC for organizing such a long tournament and that too in such not so good conditions. Although, the indies brought with it some excitement its preparation of the stadium, security and other important details wa overlooked to a greater extent. Also, due to the odd timing of the games telecast here in Nepal wasnt able to enjoy it fully as well.
The whole cup wasnt a waste at all. It did bring some form of refreshing touch. I particularly liked the bit where Herschelle Gibbs hit 6 sixes in 6 balls (the 1st and the money for the feat was donated to charity) but when Malinga of Srilanka nearly destroyed SA chances of winning their match by taking 4 wickets in 4 balls was also worth appreciating. Also, as usual the minnows at this cup made some waves. Also, Glenn McGrath with his impressive wicket haul of 25 wickets (man of the tournament) was also laudable, and his retirement at his peak is also something some cricketer must consider. With Bangladesh and Ireland beating India and Pakistan respectively and securing a place in the quarter 8 wasnt pleasing to many, but i think these two teams are among those that really need a reality check. Ireland also received International One-Day playing nation status, and with their debut they're not at the last but i think just ahead of Zimbabwe, of whom i wont even mention.
This world cup brought many changes, resignations, retirements and very unfortunately even a death. For what will this world cup be remembered is upto the fans to decide. Besides, the Aussies not many people may look back at this cup with some sort of fulfillment.
Next stop for the cup is on our own Asia. Dont know if i will be here to see the cup up close (im not dying, just may be in the states at the time) but till then there will be lots of changes in the tournament as well as the teams and hope the coming tournament brings joys, thrills, excitement and maybe a defeat for the Aussies as well (No hard feelings).Until next time, ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Srilanka

SA bites the dust again...

So, after 4 years and with some hope of regaining the humiliation they had faced at the same stage, South Africa were again successful in losing to Australia in the semi final of the cricket world cup. Although this loss was not marginal and nail biting as before but still a good 7 wicket defeat and that too after only posting a total of 149 was enough to bring quite a bit of shame to them as well as the SA fans like me. I was hoping this time around they could change their luck .
Anyways, still we have Srilanka, our own asian nation standing up against the mighty Aussies........I guess its finally time that the Aussies loose their stranglehold they have in cricket that too in the worldcups........their undefeated spree is just too much for anyone to gobble(except the aussies and their fans of course). So , looking at Srilanka's performance in this world cup, they do have a chance of winning this thing for the second time and knocking (or even budging) the Aussies off of their peak this time around (nothing personal with the Aussies) . Im rootin for the Lankans .......GO LANKANS..........
On a personal note, the wedding at Summit's place was fun overall... everything went well if not as planned to some extent ... as usual its always fun with the guys....hehe..... But nowadays i have made it a point to gain new ideas and thoughts on this matter as much as i can. Today, brought happiness in many people or at least that is what it seemed. Its been already one year since the king handed down all his powers unwillingly to be left as a commoner. There definitely have been changes, some sound positively good while other may not quite make an impact. The ongoing war being over was the cause of the major excitement. The decade long war had caused huge loss not only i the number of people killed but also its role in throwing off of the developing path.

Nepal now has almost freed itself of the obstacle that had been hindering its way in the path of development. The only thing now is that the politicians must deliver on the promise that they have made. Although, in the past that could not be banked upon, its time for them to change their course just like we did and come up with some productive and definitive work that will go along a long way.

There are still places in Nepal where roads are just being made and the first cars are rolling their way. Only some time back the sight of the people celebrating just because they got to see a vehicle in their life for the first time was really heart warming. Nepal with its extremities faces a difficult situation to balance the need of all its people. The city dwellers may be asking for something completely different some people in the rural areas arent even aware of.

This time around, even a pessimistic person like me sees a gleam of hope , a hope that maybe things will be different. This time around the lives that were lost for freedom and development will not be forgotten and we will definitively strive for a better future. The future looks promising lets just hope we are not driven of course once again and we reach our destination swiftly and make this country of ours a much better place to live in. Jai Nepal.

Risk

In life theres always this risk factor that comes into play......the more greater the risk the more sweet the result turns out to be or at least we hope it turns out that way. Although a meek hearted boy, hard times had given him immense courage that even surpassed his own imagination, courage allowing him to shake off from the nightmare which had haunted him for as long as he remembered being constantly mocked, ridiculed and most of the time looked down upon.

Slowly stretching out his forearm he started creating a fountain that would for sure drown all his fears and evils within. With every life that oozed out from his now gory arm, he began reminiscing about his so-called life; it was as if he was under some drug hallucinating but much more clear and vibrant. His whole life started flashing before him. The trivial pursuit of happiness and contentment that he had longed to achieve had exhausted him so much he just couldn’t find any other way to put his troubles at ease. Slowly he started feeling it; he felt as if he was being purified, he felt much lighter. The burden he carried on his shoulder had been huge, the constant pain and disgrace he bore was slowly etching itself out of him.

For once in his lifetime, he felt he had done something correct। For once what he actually did seem to turn out the way he wanted it to, the ball it seemed had finally started to roll in his court but yet with each passing seconds he bore with him a sense of loneliness. The same solitude that had driven him to all that he had become now etched its way into the final moment when he thought he had everything under control. He felt a loss of thoughts, the mind that had been racing now seemed to have come to a halt, the only thing he sensed and felt was a bright light that slowly crept towards him engulfing everything around him and slowly making its way towards him. The man who decided to play god, Cho Seung-hui, Korean born legal alien of Virginia, first killed two people and then after writing his reason for his acts in a 8 page long note, went on from one classroom to another just shooting anyone in his path, which left 30 dead and 16 in the hospital wounded.
There have been numerous accounts of school shootings, fatal and non-fatal, all around the world. But, the only country which has at least one fatal shooting each and every year is that of America. Maybe due to the leniency of Gun Control Laws or due to the popular gun culture that is portrayed there, the killings never seem to cease. The Columbine High School Massacre, started the media frenzy over high school shootouts, where 2 boys killed twelve students and a teacher, as well as wounded twenty-four others, before committing suicide themselves. That was the third biggest killings right after the 2007 Virginia Tech massacre and the 1966 University of Texas massacre.
Its always the same case over and over again, people citing their loneliness and the societies impact on them decide to become gun crazed maniacs. But, is that only the case? Media and general public have blamed movies, bands, music, and almost everything as the main cause of these kind of shootings. But whatever may be the case, its times like these, that people come close and help each other out in hard times. Heroes emerge out of the chaos and community further strenghtens in hard times. I hope there will be some silver lining to this tragedy and the people that lost their loved ones will find strength and hope in their loses. May this kind of remorseful tragedy never strike anywhere.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year 2064 to everyone Nepali or not. I never had had any resolutions in any new year that i know. but, i guess its time for change now. so my new year resolutions for now is to bring about change. Change in the most vaguest of all senses, be it from the smaleest to major steps but positive change, i guess that will help. another resolution must be to blog more. and not just what i did today kind of blog but serious blogs.
So, the beginning of this year brought about some sadness and mostly happiness, now just have to see how the whole year shapes out to be.............

Das Ende von die Reise

So finally everything is back to normal (thats a drag) . It was actually kind of official, was a volunteer and had to distribute clothes to the underprivileged students. Felt really good to see the smiles on the children's face when they received the clothes. Also, felt really good with the nice atmosphere and serenity.

Unfortunately, could not witness the snowfall that happened in the capital, Kathmandu, after 62 years. Incidentally, the snowfall happened on 14th February, all the lovebirds had a wonderful time (cant say the same for me:( ) in the nearby hills where snow was abundant. But still, the trip as a whole consolidated for the snow, it was a enjoyable yet fulfilling experience.
Here are some pictures of the trip, it is in HI5 album.

[Thanks Michaela for reminding me about this, had forgotten to write about it]

Reise, Reise

It was about 4 years ago, the first time i saw ants marching in rhythmic steps and communicating in a language i didnt understand and yet it felt so exhilarating watching them with the beat. From the moment i heard it, i knew i liked it but couldnt imagine to what extent it would change things for me and completely immerse me into the world of RAMMSTEIN. So it was Links 2 3 4 that set the mood for what was to become a truly cherishable adventure for me.

4 years ago RAMMSTEIN was new not only for me but for Nepal(and still is) as well, so after lots of struggle, by hook or crook i was able to get my hands on "Mutter" the album which had just been released. The guitar riffs, the enunciation of Till and most of all the langauge just hooked me straight up. I just couldnt get enough of it. Then again through my desperate yet successful attempts i got my hands on "Sehnsucht" and "Herzeleid" and realized how much RAMMSTEIN had changed in the course of time. "Herzeleid" with its simple, addictive and brutal guitar riffs; "Sehnsucht" with its Flake-infested melodic rhythms and bizzare lyrics; "Mutter" with its refined sound, all seemed so distinct yet the same and just brought joy to the ears.

But, my journey with RAMMSTEIN was not only musically fulfilling but socially fruitful as well. I knew i had to learn Deutsch the first time i heard it. Although i was able to officially start learning Deutsch only 8 months ago, but that didnt stop me from learning how to speak correctly or even sing properly. Also, it was after listening to RAMMSTEIN that i was able to befriend Michaela, a dear friend of mine. Although older than me and with different musical taste still, we got along very well and only 1 year back she also visited me and we had a good time in Nepal talking more about RAMMSTEIN. Also, she was kind enough to "geschenk" me with "Reise, Reise", a more elaborate RAMMSTEIN with choirs, accordians and cannibals and another masterpiece. I also got to know Mizz, Daniela and Telmo, all great people thrrough the music of RAMMSTEIN.

I also had the chance of reading some great literary works due to RAMMSTEIN. When recently i got the "Rosenrot" album, the most diverse sounding album, with serious duets (didnt like the english part too much), spanish sound and more hard knocks. The song Rosenrot was somewhat based on Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe's "Heidenröslein". Likewise, Dalai Lama on "Erlkönig"; Hilf Mir on Heinrich Hoffmanns' "Geschichte mit dem Feuerzeug". So, RAMMSTEIN opened up German Literature to me as well. Nowadays, i read works of Friedrich Nietzsche, Goethe and even Grimm Brüder. It also helped me in learning German and made things even more interesting in the class. The songs helped in really knowing some German Kultur to some extent be it religious stuff of Totensonntag or the social stuff of Armin Meiwes.

So, ending this long, boring yet true monologue of my journey with RAMMSTEIN, i have to say RAMMSTEIN has been almost of a daily entity for me and if i hadnt seen those marching ants in the beginning, so much would be completely different now. Deshalb bin ich ihnen sehr dankbar, RAMMSTEIN!!! Talking about today, it was one unexpected yet memorable day. What started out as small and uncertain ended up very late, cold yet a very nice time.

As I had already mentioned all my Holi celebration have always been unique its own kind and this year also it was no exception. Maybe there were some more extra oomph! to it as well. I guess im in the mood to write so ill write almost all that went down(got wet) today:

First of all, i thought there was a plan of what was supposed to happen today, but turns out there was nothing of that such. I ended up at Ashims' after finding out actualy that i wasnt supposed to celebrate Holi since some one passed away in my family tree, but after consulting and coaxing i went out anyways. So, after watching a bit of Sin City, me, ashim and summit headed out still not sure where were supposed to be headed. So, after reaching New Road and after Sharmila, and Sharmila's, Summit's and Ashim's frens got together with us, we had become by the afternoon a pretty big group who in Prasoons' house had already been able to drench each other and color each other wild. Anyways, the party had been officially started and we quickly had something to eat(i was very hungry and got as many bites as i could) and were off to some place being lead by someone.
The next stop was The Organic Bar. The DJ was playing some whacked up stuff and about 4 guys were just siting looking at the DJ playing the crap, it was very depressing. But that was short lived as the atmosphere was quickly changed as Summit and Jyoti were kind enough to throw me into the "small, covered with slime, green, and full of fish" pond-like-thing. Not only was the water FREEZING but the dirty, freezing water went down my nose, in my throat and it felt REALLY REALLY COLD.Then after everyone had been successfully dipped in the pool and after i had been THROWN more than 5 times it seems everyone felt cold(finally) and we were searching for some other place to crash. Then came one guy who knew a place.
But, the guy didnt know any such HAPPENING place, and we just served as escorts so that he could pick up his girlfriend and we again ended up in the same place and i ended up in the pool more than 1,2, or even 3 times again. So after, being drenched, colored, and other nice stuffs, the sun was about to set, the dance floor had already been set ablaze (kinda) we needed to go someplace TO GET WARM.Everyone was about to freeze to death. But help was on the way, and finally we ended up around a big fire,, warming all parts of our body with nice food, great talk and most of all awesome company. Ended up at home at around 10, so far the longest Holi ive ever played.
This things already to damn long for anyone to read , there were other stuffs i forgot to mention, the silver colors, the film, the cadburry, the bike ride, the peoples misssed, and all the other fun details that went on through out the day, people having their pants torn, people catching fish in their pockets, people taking their hands where its not supposed to go and stuff. All in all it was one hell of a day, completely unexpected, unplanned but all in all a good time throughout. Except the fact that i nearly died of starvation and Hypothermia all was cool.
Prost!!!

Boogie The Butcher

one thing while maintaining a blog as i am finding out is, what should i write? maybe its because im new at it or maybe i have nothing to say.
But today maybe its because i dont feel much like writing. All-in-all, over 50 internationally known recording artists bring their unique bone-crushing slant to these remarkable songs. Produced by Grammy award-winning producer/guitarist Bob Kulick and ace engineer Brett Chassen, "Butchering The Beatles" features 12 new, ass-kicking versions of The Beatles' chart-topping hits including "Hey Jude," "I Feel Fine," and "Day Tripper," plus the more esoteric "Hey Bulldog," barked out by the legendary Alice Cooper and "Tomorrow Never Knows," uniquely interpreted by the iconic Billy Idol, alongside classic concept songs like "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" and "Magical Mystery Tour."

When asked by Guitar Player magazine what possessed him to go all metal on The Beatles, Bob Kulick stated that, "Beatles songs are the Holy Grail. They're the best rock songs ever written. These new recordings are totally faithful, yet completely different. Billy Gibbons singing 'Revolution' or (Motorhead bassist) Lemmy singing 'Back In The USSR' are not exactly Paul McCartney or John Lennon. And of course, the guitar solo sections were lengthened to accommodate all the artists' solo styles."

"Butchering The Beatles" track listing:

1. Am supposed to be the MC but haven't been able to clearly think how to manage the stuff. Have to work on that.
There is really no statistics and information about the numbers or any thing that could define its condition in Nepal. I think what she has started may go on to help a lot of people still reluctant to hide the fact that they have a baby suffering from Downs. Even though Down Syndrome Association of Nepal has still a long way to go, to come up with ways to help the many people suffering from Downs, its initiative is well worthy of a praise.
My cousin is in many ways a typical 7 years old, he plays all the time and is normal in all the sense except for the fact he i suffering from Downs. Downs itself is not a disease that is contracted or that can be seen beforehand or even cured but is a genetic variation that can cause so much trouble and pain not only to the person suffering from it but also it brings some sort of grief for the people who care about those suffering from Downs. But Downs should not be taken as a handicap, this is one fact that many people fail to realize and in turn destroy the lives of some innocent. People suffering from Downs ca lead a normal life and go on to settle down and live happily after. Sure, it may take more time than a normal person to accomplish all that but IT WILL HAPPEN!! If people only knew that this thing can be tackled and can be overcome than that would probably make so many peoples' life better and truly give them what they rightfully deserve.

Implication and inference

Today was Nepal Bandh, again no cars, no pollution but still no normal life as well. No matter how hard I try to justify everything and try not to let it go. It just seems to find its way to just bring everything into ruins. I still haven’t been able to find the real culprit in all the cases I have encountered it. No amount of pleading, begging, explaining, lamenting or even crying can make any thing better.
